How to Manage Billing and Credits

ChatbotIQ uses a credit-based system for chat messages. For details on how credits work, plan limits, and model pricing, see Plans, Credits & Pricing.


Go to Billing in the sidebar. At the top, you’ll see:

  • Your current plan name and price.
  • Billing cycle start date.
  • Subscription status (active, cancelling, etc.).

Two progress bars show your monthly consumption:

  • Credits — used for chat messages. The bar changes from green to yellow to red as you approach your limit. You’ll also see any top-up credits.
  • Pages indexed — how many pages are indexed across all your sources, relative to your plan’s limit.

  1. Go to Billing.
  2. Find the plan you want in the comparison section.
  3. Click Upgrade (or Downgrade).
  4. You’ll be redirected to Stripe to complete the change.

Plan changes — both upgrades and downgrades — take effect immediately and are prorated. Stripe credits or charges the difference for the remainder of your current billing cycle.


Top-up credit packs are overflow only — you can buy a pack once you’ve used up all of your monthly included credits (used credits reach your monthly allowance). They’re not available while you still have monthly credits remaining.

  1. Go to Billing.
  2. Once your monthly credits are exhausted, click Buy Credits in the credits section.
  3. Choose the amount and complete the purchase via Stripe.

Top-up credits are added immediately and remain valid for 90 days from purchase. Each pack tracks its own expiry — when you have multiple packs, the soonest-to-expire one drains first. We email you 14 days before any pack is due to expire.


Scroll down on the Billing page to see a detailed log of every charge:

  • Date and time
  • Type (chat message, embedding, or MCP tool call)
  • AI model used
  • Token counts (input + output)
  • Credits charged

You can filter by type and model, and paginate through older records.


  • Billing portal — click Manage Subscription to access the Stripe billing portal where you can update payment methods, view invoices, and manage your subscription.
  • Cancel — you can cancel anytime. Your plan continues until the end of the current billing period.
